Burst pipe floods Mayor's office

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A major water supply pipe burst this afternoon at Metro Hall and severely flooded the Mayor's office and many offices of his staff.

His staff rushed to save valuable artwork and historical furniture.

The pipe burst on the sixth floor of the building and the water cascaded onto the fourth floor where the Mayor's suite is located and also on the second floor of the communications suite.

The Jefferson Co. Clerk's Office was not damaged by the flooding.

Metro Hall will be open for normal hours next week, but the staff will be relocated for about two weeks while the floors are being repaired and restoration is underway.

The Mayor's office had been recently renovated however no valuable artwork seemed to be damaged.

Paul Davis Restoration is on scene handling the cleanup.
