LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People living in the Park Duvalle neighborhood attended a community event today, hosted by police.
Kids were able to take part in music, dancing, and even face-painting.
But, the purpose of the community gathering was to address the issues of crime and violence with residents and neighbors.
Chief Steve Conrad with LMPD thinks it's important to have these community events in local neighborhoods.
"The only way to make Louisville a truly safer community is by the community getting involved with us and helping us identify problems and working with us as we work through them to solve them," said Chief Conrad.
Chief Conrad credits community members with helping police solve crimes in the city.
He says last year, LMPD made more than 37-thousand arrests in Louisville, and have made more than 6,000 this year.
