Saturday math event helps students plan college career

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's a tough sell getting children out of bed on a Saturday morning.

It's even harder convincing them to then work on math problems.

But these students had plenty of incentives, including preparing for college.

This Saturday math event helped students from three area high schools brush up on their algebra skills.

The "Go College" program aims to improve access to first generations students who want to attend college or plan their careers.

"Being in here you have the opportunity to get to the vocals so it's more engaging for the kids," said Sherricko Quinn, Go College Coach.

Students who attended were also entered to win an iPad and a kindle fire.
