LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Derby winner walks away with more than just a garland of roses.
The winner also receives a solid gold trophy.
It arrived at Churchill Downs today, exactly 40 days before the 139th running of the Derby.
The trophy stands 22 inches tall, is topped with a 14-karat gold horse and rider, and has horseshoe-shaped wreath handles.
It stands on a jade base, and weighs just under four pounds.
But it's not clear how much it's worth.
New England Sterling has been manufacturing the trophy since 1975.
The Kentucky Derby will run May 4th.
