Unmanned space cargo ship is back on Earth

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An unmanned space cargo ship is back on Earth.

The SpaceX Dragon splashed down in the Pacific, just five hours after leaving the International Space Station.

It was released this morning from the end of the space station's giant robot arm.

The Dragon brought back more than 1 ton of science experiments and old station equipment.

It's the only supply ship capable of two-way delivery.

The unmanned capsule will be shipped to Los Angeles and then trucked to Texas for unloading.

NASA is paying SpaceX to do the resupply missions.
