Obama signs a stopgap spending bill to keep the govt. running

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The government has enough money to survive through the end of September.

President Obama has signed a stopgap spending bill to keep the government running.

It also provides another $87 billion for overseas military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq and maintains a pay freeze for federal workers.

The measure leaves $85 billion in automatic budget cuts, known as the sequester, in place.

Without it, the government would have run out of money to keep operating tomorrow.
