LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in Kentucky are warning residents about a phone scam targeting people in the Elizabethtown area.

Officials say the scam is related to Cecilian Bank and tries to get credit card and PIN numbers by telling people that their bank's debit card has been canceled.

The caller then asks the victim to enter their card numbers and other information to resolve the problem. On cell phones, authorities say the number calling people shows up as 4-9-9.

Police say the call is not coming from Cecilian Bank, and that callers should never give away credit card or PIN numbers over the phone.

They say if you receive one of these calls, to hang up and call your local banking center.
