FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is attacking U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell in a new radio ad in Kentucky that plays to the state's keen interest in basketball.
The 60-second spot has a narrator mimicking a play-by-lay announcer charging that McConnell is playing for Washington special interests against Kentucky.
McConnell is seeking re-election to a sixth term next year.
No serious Democratic candidate has stepped forward to challenge McConnell. Actress Ashley Judd, a former Kentucky resident now living in Tennessee, had considered a run but announced Wednesday she would skip the race.
Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, a rising star within the Kentucky Democratic Party, is being touted as a potential McConnell challenger. However, she has not said whether she would consider getting into the race.
