CRANE, Ind. (AP) -- Five people were taken to a Bloomington hospital after firefighters were dispatched to the Crane naval base in southern Indiana.
Indiana University Health-Bloomington Hospital spokeswoman Amanda Roach told The Herald Times Thursday night that "five people from something that happened at Crane this evening" had been brought to the hospital.
The Herald Times reports the firefighters from the Richland-Taylor Township Volunteer Fire Department in Scotland were dispatched to a reported fire at Crane about 6 p.m. Thursday. Dispatchers said the firefighters left the scene about 7:20 p.m.
Roach declined to comment about the incident or the conditions of the patients. Greene County emergency responders deferred all questions to Crane officials. The Associated Press left messages seeking comment from Navy officials Friday morning.
