LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some Louisville Cardinals fans celebrated the Duke win on West Broadway, in a style reminiscent of Derby cruising of the past.
Fans sat on the edge of windows and poked through sun roofs as they eventually created a bumper-to-bumper jam from 9th Street west to 36th Street after 8 p.m. Sunday. Metro police eventually detoured traffic at 21st and 26th Streets and reported little trouble from the celebrants.
Cars lined up as fans were honking their horns and throwing up "L's" while participating in Cards chants.
Others who watched at the Cardinals Hall of Fame Cafe said the Kevin Ware knee injury may have been the turning point in the game, which was rarely had more than 3-point difference in the score during the first half.
