LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville father was arrested early Friday morning after police say he was found in his car drunk instead of where he was supposed to be: at home taking care of his children.

According to an arrest report, police went to a home on Atlanta Parkway, near the corner of Harpers Ferry Road and New Cut Road, sometime around 6 a.m. on Friday, after they received a report of children left alone in a home.

The children's mother allegedly told police that she left for work at 5:30 p.m. the previous day, with the understanding that the father was going to care for their three children -- ages 9 years, 6 years and 21 months -- while she was gone.

Police say that when the mom arrived home at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, the children were home alone. The 9-year-old and 6-year-old were both asleep on the couch, and the 21-month-old was in his crib, according to the arrest report.

While police were investigating, other officers allegedly arrested the father -- 33-year-old Michael Seagraves -- after police say he was found intoxicated, passed out behind the wheel of his car at a stoplight.

Police say Seagraves, "manifested extreme indifference to human life" and "created substantial danger of death or serious physical injury" when he left the three children home alone.

He was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment and public intoxication, according to police.
