New Albany-Floyd County superintendent will stay with district

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The New Albany-Floyd County School Board is thrilled to learn the current superintendent will stay put.

Bruce Hibbard was one of three finalists for the superintendent job with Carmel Clay schools, north of Indianapolis.

But New Albany-Floyd County School Board members say he's no longer a candidate. They're pleased that he'll stay in his current job in southern Indiana.

In a statement regarding the move to Carmel Clay schools, Hibbard explained he considered the superintendent position because the move would allow family to spend more time with his children.

Last year, the New Albany-Floyd County School Board voted to extend Hibbard's contract through June 2015, and awarded him a $28,000 raise.
