LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- After successful surgery at an Indianapolis hospital to repair a compound leg fracture suffered during the Cardinals' win against Duke in the NCAA Regional Final, Kevin Ware returned to Louisville around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
His first stop: the Yum! practice facility at the University of Louisville, where his teammates welcomed him back.
Ware was on crutches and with his mother, Lisa Junior, when he arrived. She said, "Thanks for all the support. Thank you so much. We appreciate it." She was holding the Midwest Regional trophy the Cards won after defeating Duke 85-63 Sunday.
When asked by reporters how he felt, Ware responded, "I feel good."
Kevin Ware's injury was so horrific that many media outlets have declined to show it.
We'll have continuing coverage on Ware and the Cardinals as they head to Atlanta for the Final Four.
