Ind. governor says schools should make own security decisions

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana's governor believes local schools should make their own decisions about safety and security.

Mike Pence isn't showing support for a bill that's passed through an Indiana House Committee.

The proposal would require Indiana schools to have an employee carrying a loaded gun during school hours. That person could either be a police officer or a trained school employee.

But Pence says the state should just support local schools' efforts.
