Darrell Griffith has been touting Louisville's Final Four backcourt to his NBA friends.
ATLANTA (WDRB) – After leading the University of Louisville to the 1980 NCAA title, Darrell Griffith played 10 seasons in the NBA. He has friends who played at Wichita State, Syracuse and Michigan, the three teams that will join Griffith's Cardinals at the NCAA Final Four in the Georgia Dome this weekend.
Text messages have been flying between Griffith and his NBA veteran friends, but the ones that have really made him laugh have been sent by Ricky Green, who played with Griffith on the Utah Jazz after finishing his career at Michigan.
Green has watched U of L guards Russ Smith and Peyton Siva apply their unrelenting full-court pressure in the NCAA tournament and responded with this question for Griffith:
"Who are those guys? I've never seen two guys in the same backcourt that fast."
"You don't want to play those two guys," he said. "They don't stop running the whole night."
