LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- When it comes to Derby fashion, there's one simple rule: it's all about the hat.
We're getting a look at what's hot in hats this year, and how you can get the look for less.
Adriana Muster comes to Dee's every year. She picks out her Derby dress and works with a designer to complete the outfit.
"I think the trick is not to look too much, just get something and go with it," says Muster.
The tradition started in England, and that's where Dee's does their creative research. This year bright colors are all the rage, and as always bigger is better.
"Color is important whether your matching or coordinating it's still nice to see the style and color of the dress so it's fun to see all the dresses that come through," says Kathy Olliges, owner of Dee's.
Dee's sells Derby hats, and will trim one for you. But if you're feeling crafty, they have all the supplies to create your own.
"To me it's like the cherry on top, it's kind of a completion of the outfit so you almost need the hat to look complete at the derby," says Olliges.
