Celebration of actor Victor Mature in Louisville

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A golden age Hollywood star joined the many Louisville legends whose faces paint the town as "hometown heroes".

A celebration today honored Louisville native and Shelby Park resident Victor Mature.

His picture banner now covers the side of the Derby Dental Lab in his old neighborhood.

Mature was one of the first A-list film actors in Hollywood and starred in films such as One Million BC, My Darling Clementine, Samson and Delilah and The Robe.

Those who work at the lab say it is a privilege to have a picture of the late Mature, who died in 1999, hanging up for all to see.

Mature is the 21st Hometown Hero honoree.
