INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Gov. Mike Pence appears to be slowly dropping some of the guard he developed after more than a dozen years working in Washington.
A more easygoing governor showed up for the release of a Senate budget last week that includes a slice of his much -cherished tax cut. Pence said he was pleased but would push for the full $500 million cut he campaigned for.
It was a markedly different tone from the governor who dug in last month for a battle with House Republicans who scrapped his tax cut entirely. It was also something of a change for a veteran politician who honed his defenses during 12 years battling in Washington.
