LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- St. Matthews Police say a shoplifter decided to try on his stolen goods -- and in the process, he ruined the pants.

According to an arrest report, police were called to Mall St. Matthews Friday evening on a report of a man who had stolen two pairs of pants and three shirts from JCPenny. Police say 24-year-old Antwain S. Keys shoved a store security employee out of the way and ran out of the store.

Police, along with store security employees, allegedly chased Keys east toward Oxmoor Mall, yelling for him to stop.

He was wearing some of the merchandise, according to the arrest report.

Police say they had to chase Keys through a thick, wooded area and across two creeks before he was caught.

When the police officer caught up with Keys, store security already had him in cuffs.

Police say the stolen merchandise was "destroyed and unusable, due to being chased through mud, woods and creeks."

Keys was arrested and charged with robbery and criminal mischief.
