Mentoring programs works with students interested in law enforcement

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new program looks at mentoring JCPS students interested in law enforcement.

It's called Future Officer Recruitment Community Effort, or FORCE. The idea behind the mentoring program is to produce candidates who could become police recruits with Louisville Metro Police.

"Once they reach that age of 21 and we've got the exposure with them, they've got the exposure with us, we're good to go with a really great applicant," explained LMPD's Sgt. James Itschner.

Chief Steve Conrad was also among those on hand to discuss the partnership and answer questions.
