LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---The Cards arrived home to Louisville Tuesday afternoon, greeted by dozens of fans cheering at the airport.

Although the fans were a far distance away, the team still gave fans a show by dancing and waving to those who showed up.

Some fans crowded in front of the men's practice facility, hoping for a glimpse of the team.

"Bring my daughter to allow her to see what the national championship looked like and how the city celebrates, and people were like, yeah! Represent Ware with me and my crutches," says Angela Thompson.

However, the bus arrived at Billy Minardi Hall.

Fans not only got to see their favorite players, but scored autographs as well and were able to take photos with some of the players.

U of L point guard Peyton Siva was still wearing a piece of the net he cut down!

"Yeah, it's great. Now I can finally relax," Siva told WDRB.

Luke Hancock, the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, drove away with the National Championship trophy sitting next to him.

He thanked the fans for showing so much support for the team.

"Just we love you guys. Go Card nation," Luke Hancock said.

U of L's last national title was in 1986.

Fans say they were eagerly waiting for this championship.

"It hasn't happened in our lifetime. I was born in ‘88', he was born in ‘90'. We've never experienced anything like this," says student Chris Bumann.

"And they played for each other and for Ware. We won the championship. I got my autograph and will never forget it. Go Cards," says fan Tim Pennington.
