LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- People have been waiting in the rain since last night for Kentucky's first Cabela's to open. It's located in the Old Brownsboro Crossing just off Kentucky Highway 22 in Eastern Jefferson County.
It's a store big enough to feature an indoor waterfall running down an indoor mountain full of museum quality displays of wildlife.
There are tents, outdoor clothes, shoes, bow and arrows, and plenty of firearms, which are big sellers these days.
One man came down from Cincinnati and said he had been waiting since nine last night to get inside. "It's just nice to have another store like this available and close to us," said Troy Braunstein. "Instead of driving to Michigan or West Virginia it's nice to have one within just a couple hours."
Another shopper, Bill Carney, said, "It's great for the community. It's great for the hunter, sportsman, fisherman. You don't have to go any great distance to get some of the things you're looking for.'
In addition to the millions of merchandise for sale at the store, it will offer lots of seminars and classes taught by experts like Dodge.
The opening of the store has caused a huge traffic jam around the Snyder Freeway and Highway 22, so you might want to keep that in mind as you travel in the area.
