LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A LaGrange, Ky. man was killed after police say several vehicles were involved in a crash on I-71 in Oldham County.
The accident took place just before 7:45 a.m. at the 16 mile-marker, near the Crestwood / Peewee Valley exit.
Police say a gray Chrysler passenger car was traveling southbound on I-71, when it crossed the median into opposing traffic and struck a red Jeep sport utility vehicle. That Chrysler and a semi-tractor trailer that was traveling northbound collided. A blue Honda passenger car then drove into the median to avoid the collision and struck a drainage grate, according to police.
Police say the driver of the Chrysler, 27-year-old Ian Connin of LaGrange, Ky., died in the crash.
The driver of the Jeep sustained injuries and was taken to U of L Hospital via ambulance. The extent of her injuries is not known at this time.
The semi-tractor trailer driver was not injured. The driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries and was taken to Baptist Hospital Northeast.
Police say all drivers were wearing seatbelts and none of the vehicles contained passengers. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. If anyone has any information about the incident, they are asked to call the Oldham County Police Department at (502) 222-1300.
