LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Jefferson County Public School Teacher pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a middle school student.
Former Highland Middle School teacher 24-year-old Jessica Boyers was in court Tuesday morning where her lawyer entered a plea of not guilty, and the judge ordered no contact with the victim.
Boyers was arrested and charged with sexual abuse Friday after one of her students told police that they had sexual contact with Boyers.
According to an arrest report, LMPD was called to Buechel park Thursday afternoon for a sex abuse investigation.
Boyers, who was a language arts teacher and cross country coach, was arrested that night at the park.
The school district said last week that Boyers will be assigned to "non-instructional duties" pending the outcome of the investigation.
Tuesday morning a judge ordered Boyers to have absolutely no contact with the victim. The judge went on to explain that no contact meant emails, voicemails, text messages. The judge also explained that a violation of the no contact order could result in up to 365 days in jail.
Highland Middle School students and parents are responding to the allegations against Boyers.
A Highland Middle School girl said "I cant believe miss Boyers would do this, we all liked her."
