LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Slugger bats commemorating U of L's NCAA basketball win have sold out. All 2,013 bats sold in less than four days.
But Louisville Slugger says Cardinal fans shouldn't despair -- it's created a second Cardinal National Champions bat.
The new version is different from the original limited-edition bat in that it does not have limited-edition numbering or the Cardinal head or "Louisville" logos. With that extra space, fans can personalize their bats, but Louisville Slugger cautions them that the names of the U of L players or coaches are not permitted.
Packy Page, Louisville Slugger's Director of Specialty & Premium Bat Sales, explains, "We want to protect the value of the limited-edition bats for those who got one. At the same time, we don't want to disappoint fans who would like to commemorate this special team with a special bat, especially since some media across the country called them ‘Louisville Sluggers' for the way they fought back to win."
The new version of the bat sells for $99.99 plus shipping and handling. You can buy one at www.sluggergifts.com or order it at Louisville Slugger's corporate headquarters at 800 West Main Street.
