Indiana State Police say security a priority for Thunder

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police has released information on security measures being taken to protect Thunder Over Louisville attendees on the Indiana side of the river.

According to a news release, approximately 100 state troopers will be deployed, along with approximately 125 other officers from local city, county and state law enforcement agencies.

Those officers will combine to provide traffic direction, interstate patrols and foot patrols. Indiana State Police will also provide an emergency response team, canines, a bomb squad and aircraft as the need arises.

Authorities expect roughly 500,000 people to attend the event on the Indiana side.

If anyone has an emergency while attending Thunder Over Louisville, they are asked to call 911. If they have a general complaint or need to file a police report, they should call (812) 283-6633 or (812) 246-5424.

Traffic on southbound I-65 will be rerouted from 8:15 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. Traffic will be rerouted at I-265 to I-64. There will be numerous other road closures and reroutes in the local cities and towns. There will be traffic delays. Indiana State Police is asking that everyone be patient and drive defensively.
