MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -- A Ball State University student who says two campus football players attacked him without cause is suing them over the alleged attack.
Twenty-four-year-old Zechariah Smith of Wabash says he suffered a broken jaw when he was attacked by Ball State football players Kenneth Spencer Lee Jr. and Travis Dartanion Freeman in a Muncie bar in February 2012.
The suit says Smith was waiting to use the bathroom at the bar when Lee accused him "of making derogatory comments."
The Star Press reported the lawsuit says Lee grabbed Smith by the throat and punched him in the face. It says Lee left the tavern, but returned a few minutes later with Freeman. It says then both men attacked Smith and continued the assault after he fell to the floor.
