LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Thunder Over Louisville air show "took off" -- so to speak -- Saturday afternoon with brilliant weather and baby-blue skies.
Military aircraft -- normally a staple of the show -- were conspicuously absent this year. Federal budget woes and the so-called "sequester" saw to it that those planes would not fly in the Thunder air show. But though their silence was deafening, people flocked to Louisville's waterfront to see a host of civilian aircraft do their acrobatic stunts.
Cotton candy abounded, as did hot dogs and chips. Couples held hands, while other folks stood in long lines at the portable toilets.
The weather was perfect. The only "thunder" the meteorologists expected to roll in was, well, Thunder.
