LOUISVILLE (WDRB) --- Five Kentucky Derby contending horses worked Sunday Morning at Churchill Downs, along with a sixth elsewhere, with the 139th Run for the Roses less than two weeks away.

The top-ranked horse in the Kentucky Derby points standings Orb (Vegas odds: 5-1) is scheduled to arrive Monday.

Here are some notes on the horses that were on the track Sunday:

Verrazano (Vegas: 9-2)
  • The potential Derby favorite is tied with Orb for first in the Derby point standings and is unbeaten in four races as a three-year-old.

  • Verrazano worked five furlongs in 1:00.20 Sunday morning at Churchill Downs.
  • Trained by Todd Pletcher and one of six horses in the top-22 by that trainer - Overanalyze, Revolutionary, Palace Malice, Charming Kitten, and Winning Cause are the others.
  • Jockey John Velazquez is slotted to ride Verrazano in the Derby, but broke a rib and chip fractured his right wrist two weeks ago at Aqueduct. His Derby status is still questionable.

Revolutionary (Vegas: 7-1)
  • Calvin Borel will ride Revolutionary in the Derby and was aboard for the first time Sunday morning for his work.
  • Revolutionary went four furlongs in :48.80 at Churchill on Sunday.
  • Revolutionary won his last three races, including the latest at the Louisiana Derby

Normandy Invasion (Vegas 9-1)
  • Trained by Chad Brown, who has not had a Kentucky Derby starter
  • Brown: "The little time I was at Churchill Downs before with Bobby Frankel, I observed other trainers to see what worked for them there."
  • Normandy Invasion worked four furlongs in :48.40 Sunday at Churchill Downs.
  • Normandy Invasion finished 2nd to Verrazano in the Wood Memorial (G1)

Will Take Charge (Vegas: 20-1)
  • Trained by D. Wayne Lukas
  • Worked one mile Sunday at Churchill Downs in 1:41.60
  • If Will Take Charge runs in the Derby, it will be a 7 week layoff in between races, after winning the Rebel Stakes (G2) on March 16th.

Mylute (Vegas 45-1)
  • Defending Kentucky Oaks winning jockey Rosie Nepravnik was aboard Sunday morning at Churchill and was so impressed, she tweeted, "WOW" after the work.
