LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Early Times Mint Julep and Yellow Cab are teaming up to help make sure people avoid drinking and driving during the Kentucky Derby Festival.
According to a news release from Brown-Forman, the two companies are offering over 1,000 vouchers for safe rides at select locations in Louisville during Kentucky Derby week. The 1,000 vouchers are apart of an effort to encourage people to plan ahead, and not drink and drive during the Kentucky Derby Festival.
"The partnership with Yellow Cab encourages our community to enjoy their Kentucky Derby celebrations and get home safely," said Rob Frederick, director of corporate responsibility for Brown-Forman, parent company of Early Times Mint Julep. "This exciting week brings friends and family together, and there's no better way to enrich the Kentucky Derby experience than with a safe ride home."
In partnership with Yellow Cab, Early Times Mint Julep will be present at nine locations from April 29 to May 1 with a specially-designed Kentucky Derby themed taxi featuring Early Times Mint Julep insignia.
Patrons will sign the taxi as their personal pledge to drink responsibly, and each person who pledges will receive a taxi voucher valued at $15 which patrons can redeem toward their safe ride home with Yellow Cab, courtesy of Early Times Mint Julep. Each voucher is also valid with Yellow Cab sister companies Checker Cab and Cardinal Cab. All vouchers are for use during Kentucky Derby week only and must be redeemed by midnight on Sunday, May 5, 2013.
There will be 139 taxi vouchers offered, to commemorate Kentucky Derby 139, at three locations on April 29 at the St. Matthews corridor, April 30 at the Baxter Avenue corridor, and May 1 at Fourth Street Live.
The Early Times Mint Julep is the official drink of the Kentucky Derby.
