Peregrine falcon chicks at LG&E plant to receive tracking bands
LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Four peregrine falcon chicks that hatched inside an LG&E power plant will soon receive tracking bands.
Biologists plan to put the bands on the chicks because they are expected to take flight for the first time in a few days. They hatched inside a falcon nest box at the Mill Creek Generating Station.
The bands will let biologists track each falcon. The birds have many fans; a webcam LG&E installed earlier this year to let people watch the chicks has drawn 22,000 viewers from 52 countries.
