Kentucky Gives Day benefits 380 charities

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A 24-hour online fundraising event benefits 380 charities across Kentucky.  Kentucky Gives Day is designed to make donating to charities simple, especially for charities with limited or no online donation options.

$140,000 in donations from Kentuckians all over the state had been raised as of midday.

In Louisville, the charities taking part include Habitat for Humanity, the Center for Women and Families, Wayside Christian Mission, Actors Theatre, Kids Against Hunger, the Louisville Nature Center, Baptist Hospital Foundation, Susan G. Komen, Ronald McDonald House, and Kosair Children's Hospital.

Many of the participating charities will receive matching gifts which will double donations.  They can also win "Golden Tickets" which allow them to win cash prizes based upon the most dollars raised in an hour or the most unique donors in an hour.
