LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino is sporting a brand new tattoo.
Coach Pitino got the tattoo -- a red "L" for Louisville, along with the words "NCAA Champions 35-5" -- this morning.
Rick Pitino promised his championship team he would get a tattoo. During a press conference Wednesday, Pitino vowed that he would get inked before Derby at a parlor on Bardstown Road.
Yesterday he made a trial run of sorts, as his equipment manager got a tattoo, and he was there for support.
The tattoo will serve as another permanent reminder of Pitino's accomplishments. He will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame later this year, and is the only coach to lead two different teams to a national championship title.
