New Albany cheer squad heads to Orlando for World Competition

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A New Albany cheerleading team is trying their best to advance in the Cheerleading and Dance World Competition.

The New Albany cheer squad will head down to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Cheerleading and Dance World Competition.

It's the New Albany gym's first time competition on the national stage.

The squad has been practicing extensively to perfect their game before the big competition. With every back flip, high kick and hand spring, these level 5 athletes work to enhance their skills at performing their gravity-defying stunts.

The Southern Indiana squad will take on teams from around the world in a test of dance, gymnastics, flexibility, and strength.

If the team advances in the semifinals, they'll compete in the finals on Sunday.
