LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Today turned out to be a great day for a balloon race.
Today was the 41st annual U.S. Bank Great Balloon Race. Light winds and an overcast made great weather for the 27 balloons to take flight in the race on Bowman Field.
The "Hare" balloon, U.S. Bank Balloon which was piloted by Scott McClinton landed on the Different Strokes Golf Center just 30 minutes after take off.
The "Hound" balloons followed for up to an hour before landing. Many of the balloons went over the Ohio River and onto souther Indiana soil, after dropping their bag of Bluegrass seed.
21 of the 26 "Hound" balloons scored in the race.
The top five winners were awarded to French Lick Resort, Curves International, Shane Company, Sam's Club and Re/MAX.
French Lick's balloon came just a little over a foot in range with the target. Other filed in with a distance ranging from three to 20 feet of the target.
The overall winner was Tran Orthadontics, piloted by Nick Donner, with combined points from the races on Friday and Saturday.
