LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Kentucky's House Speaker has let Governor Steve Beshear know that his chamber "stands ready to act" if it's called into a special session on political redistricting.
It's an idea Beshear has said he is considering.
A suit filed in federal court last week by a group of northern Kentucky officials against Beshear and other state officials was designed to get the Legislature to act.
Redistricting is supposed to occur every 10 years to account for population changes found by the U.S. Census Bureau. Kentucky lawmakers haven't yet redrawn boundaries based on the 2010 count.
Their first attempt last year was struck down as unconstitutional.
