SLIDESHOW: Steamboat crews compete before, during Great Steamboat Race

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The crews of the Belle of Louisville and Belle of Cincinnati faced off in the hours before the Great Steamboat Race.  They had to perform several tasks to accumulate points throughout the day as well as during the race.

Competition began at 2 p.m. at the Fourth Street Wharf.  

In the end, the Belle of Cincinnati won the race, with a total of 130 points accumulated from a series of ten tasks during the day. Those tasks are broken up as follows:

Task No. 1: Jousting inflatable – Belle of Cincinnati 10, Belle of Louisville 0
Task No. 2: Obstacle inflatable course – Belle of Cincinnati 0 points, Belle of Louisville 10 points
Task No. 3: Handy line toss – Belle of Cincinnati 10, Belle of Louisville 0
Task No. 4: Monkey fist toss – Belle of Cincinnati 10 points, Belle of Louisville 0 points
Task No. 5: Paddlewheel Assembly – Belle of Cincinnati 10, Belle of Louisville 0 points
Task No. 6: Calliope contest – Belle of Cincinnati 0, Belle of Louisville 10
Task No. 7: Buoy flag retrieval – Both vessels were awarded 25 points
Task No. 8: VIP retrieval – Both vessels were awarded 25 points
Task No. 9: Bourbon barrel retrieval – Both vessels were awarded 25 points
Task No. 10: Boat race finish – Belle of Louisville was awarded 29 points, Belle of Cincinnati 15 points

The Belle of Cincinnati was awarded a set of silver-plated antlers for the win.
