LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The New Albany City Council is expected to vote on Monday whether to install tornado sirens at a fire station and city park.
Nearly $46,000 in riverboat casino money would fund the installation.
Right now, Floyd County has 16 tornado sirens, each with a sound radius of about two miles.
Emergency Management officials say two new sirens would better protect the city. However, they admit that some areas, such as Floyds Knobs, are still out of reach of the sirens. Residents there are urged to invest in weather radios.
