LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person was hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a box truck in the city's east end this morning.

According to LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley, it happened at 10:16 a.m. at the intersection of south Hurstbourne Lane and Bunsen near the Walmart. Smiley says officers from the 6th Division witnessed the crash as they were stopped at a red light at the intersection.

The officers said they saw the driver of large box truck, owned by Cox Interiors, run the red light on Hurstbourne Lane and T-bone a Suzuki Forenza stopped on Bunsen.

The driver of the car was unconscious and had to be stabilized until EMS arrived. He was taken to University Hospital for treatment.

The man's 4-year-old child was in the back seat of the car, and the child's mother was in the passenger seat. Both were uninjured.

All three had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The driver of the box truck was not hurt. He was cited for running a red light.
