Posted: Updated:

INDIANAPOLIS (WDRB) -- Indiana Governor Mike Pence is backing school safety grants that would help schools hire police officers.

The school safety grants have already been approved by lawmakers.

Pence will sign the bill today.

It includes 10-million-dollars a year toward the grant program that would help school districts hire officers and buy safety equipment.

It also establishes a special committee to study school security issues and make recommendations.
