LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A prosecutor is trying to move Richie Farmer's trial forward.
It was initially set for July, but Farmer's attorney says that doesn't give him enough time to prepare what he expects to be a complex case. He has asked for the trial to start in February.
The U.S. attorney on the case filed a document asking that the trial be scheduled for sometime this fall.
Farmer is charged with misusing government resources while serving as agriculture commissioner. He pleaded not guilty last month and will be free until his trial.
He faces prison time and heavy fines if convicted.
