LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a man is now behind bars after he beat and shot a man during a verbal argument.
The incident took place in Newburg at a home on Jeanine Drive near Norene Lane.
According to an arrest report, 18-year-old Deng Kual got into a verbal argument with a man over property he was trying to retrieve from Deng's garage.
Police say that during the argument, Kual showed a handgun to the victim and told him to leave. The victim told Kual to "be cool," and Kual then struck the victim in the mouth with the pistol. As the victim then turned around to leave, Kual allegedly struck him again in the back of the head.
At that point, according to an arrest report, the victim ran, and Kual fired one round from the handgun, striking the victim in the back.
Police say the victim suffered serious physical injuries, and had to undergo surgery to recover from the wounds.
Deng was arrested and charged with first degree assault and wanton endangerment, according to the arrest report.
