LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a Louisville woman was beaten and robbed in her own back yard.

According to an arrest report, it happened shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday on W. Oak Street, near Dixie Highway.

Police say they were dispatched to a home at that location after the woman there was robbed.

When they arrived, they say they found the woman sitting on her porch. She was allegedly bleeding from her face, nose and mouth. Police say her right eye was swollen shut, and multiple teeth had been knocked out.

The woman allegedly told police she'd been attacked by two suspects in her back yard. She claimed she'd been hit in the head by a handgun and fell to the ground. At that point, the suspects allegedly kicked her in the face and beat her with a stick.

They also took her cell phone, according to the arrest report.

A witness led police to 19-year-old Perro Nikolovski, who was allegedly one of the attackers. Nikolovski was arrested and charged with first degree assault and first degree robbery.

A few days after this story was posted, WDRB News received a call from one of Nikolovski's family members, who disputes police claims. She claims Nikolovski had just awakened when he went outside and was approached by the woman, who was upset over a dog and called Nikolovski a racial epithet. That family member then claims the woman attacked Nikolovski with a stick and he had to retaliate in self-defense.

That family member claims Nikolovski did not steal anything from the woman, and doesn't know who did.
