The mowing season is well underway and bald spots on your lawn are becoming more apparent. Scott Krueger and Joe Autry with the Home Depot say there are three ways to re-seed your lawn to get it into tip-top shape.
Joe Autry says you need to be careful when you pick grass seed. The best seed to pick is a mix so your lawn doesn't develop light or dark spots. Unless you are putting seeding a new lawn, Autry says you don't need to put down straw.
Hand seeding is the simplest method, but Autry says that it can cause inconsistencies; One part of you lawn could be lush and the other could still be bare. Manual spreaders evenly spread grass seed. Both hand seeding and manual spreaders place seed on top of the soil.
Scott Krueger says power seeders can place grass seed under the soil. He says power seeders create lush and even lawns. You can rent a power seeder for a full day or half day.
