LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Soon there will be a new place in town to catch a movie.
The new theatre at the Mall St. Matthews opens to the public on Thursday.
Cinemark's new theatre located at Mall St. Matthews is holding a VIP ceremony on Wednesday night with city officials.
The new theatre was built using the latest technology. The 10-screen theatre is located on the front side of the mall in the old Dillard's men's and furniture store. Half of the auditoriums are 3D capable.
A lobby bar serving beer, wine, and mixed drinks will also be available to customers, along with a lounge area.
"Every single auditorium is stadium seated, every single auditorium has digital projection, all the auditoriums are wall-to-wall ceiling-to-floor screens with enhanced sound systems," said Cinemark Marketing and Communications spokesman James Meredith
The facilities will show all types of movies, independent and art films, as well as concerts, UFC fights and boxing matches.
Cinemark is the same company that owns Tinseltown in Springhurst.
For opening weekend, the first 100 customers each day get a swag bag and there will be several movie giveaways.
