LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Cardboard and duct tape were put to the test once again -- but the test was cut short for a time by severe weather.

Students from Jeffersontown High School took to the pool for their annual Cardboard Boat Regatta.

Students researched, designed and built boats with just two key materials: cardboard and duct tape. They're graded on whether their boat makes it across the pool and back without sinking -- and it's no easy task.

Once thunder and lightning was heard in the distance, all the boats were taken out of the water and students, staff, and onlookers took shelter.
