Louisville 10 and Under encourages tennis at the Old Louisville Springfest

Posted: Updated:

The Louisville Area 10U Tennis Association has been working with Louisville Council members to make area tennis courts available for the kids to enjoy.

Last year Louisville Area 10U kicked off a tennis program at California Park.

California Park delivered a tennis program to the kids of Midwest Church of Christ, Wheatley Elementary School and the residents of California Park.

Over 235 kids are now involved in a tennis program there.

Councilman David James has recently been working with Brown-Forman and has secured a grant to keep the California Park program going.

Councilman James and wife Michelle are now working with Kosair to obtain a grant to offer the same type of tennis program in the neighborhood associations of Old Louisville.

With this grant the Louisville Area 10U Tennis Associations hopes to offer tennis instruction, monitored court play and several play dates to the children of Old Louisville. They also hope to bring in just as much involvement from the area youth as California Park.

Dee Maynard with USTA Kentucky will be at the Old Louisville SpringFest on May 18th.

The Louisville 10 and Under will be conducting a mini version of SmashZone where a court will be laid out so that kids can participate in playing tennis while attending the Old Louisville SpringFest.

Dee and the Louisville 10 and Under Tennis Association will be at the Old Louisville SpringFest from 10-2 PM.

The Old Louisville SpringFest is a street fair celebration of Old Louisville's love of history, culture, diversity, food, style, family, music and philanthropy.

Local vendors will be on hand selling their unique wares… art, hard to find antiques, architectural remnants, etc. Traditional street fair treats, beer / wine / bourbon tents and gourmet food trucks will also be on hand.
