Emergency drill at Floyd Central High School

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Police, fire, and EMS officials swarmed Floyd Central High School Friday morning, but it was only a drill.

Emergency officials took part in training exercises at the high school in Galena.  They simulated an accident involving a school bus and a hazardous materials leak.

Police want to warn neighbors that officers will be in the area with evacuation and sheltering instructions during the drill, but no one will have to act on those instructions.

As Works and Management Director Terry Herthel explained, "It's something that we do on a regular, everyday basis and we're just trying to fine-tune out skills to make everything work better."

The drill was set to run until about 2:30 Friday afternoon.
