LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A new pedway linking the Muhammad Ali Center with the Belvedere is drawing new concert opportunities to the center.

Officials at the Muhammad Ali Center said they are moving outside the ring and onto a different stage of sorts.

It has been a prominent part of the skyline since 2005. The Muhammad Ali Center not only takes visitors through the life of Louisville's most famous citizen, it also serves as a venue to discuss world peace and improving the community.

But now, there's even more in the works.

The venue has been around since 2005, and Folks at the Muhammad Ali Center say there is a lot of room for entertainment.

"This is just the start of something big," said Donald Lassere, CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center.

Lassere said they are moving forward, courtesy of some new "connections."

"Now we have this wonderful pedway and we would like to thank the mayor and the city again for making it happen," Lassere said.

He said the pedway opened on April of this year.  Lassere said it has helped lead them in a new direction.

"We are really excited to have our concerts taking place here at the center," said Lassere.

Lassere said Abbey Road on the River would be the first event they would be a part of, adding that the bridge between will mean more traffic.

"It connects us with the Belvedere, so it gives us an opportunity to grow in terms of having new visitorship come to the center," Lassere said.

He added that the first show this weekend is only the beginning -- and that they hope to also partner with World Festival in September.

"Perhaps in July, we will have an event for Forecastle on the sixth floor," said Lassere.
