LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Giving birth at 400 feet above the ground is no easy feat, especially if you are the parents of three baby Peregrine falcons.

On Wednesday, Indiana wildlife officials retrieved the infants from a smoke stack at the Duke Energy Gallagher Plant west of New Albany. This is part of an ongoing monitoring plan to examine the growing population of this state endangered species.

The Peregrine falcon was taken off the Federal Endangered Species list in 1999.  Last year one bird from Kentucky flew 2200 miles from Lake Michigan to Costa Rica.
